Details of the Badgers Golf Day held at Cray Valley Golf Club in September 2011, won by Richard Maggs |
The first Badgers Day of the 2011 - 2012 season saw a return to Cray Valley Golf Club and the first outing with our new Captain, John Barnes. Unfortunately, over the passage of the year the course had improved about as much as the golf of Harry Cutts so this will be our second and last visit to this particular corner of Kent. For next year we have already booked Parkwood Golf Club on the recommendation of Stevie Brewer, so you know who to blame if it turns out to be a toilet too....... The quality (or lack of) of the course and it's set up was reflected in the high scores recorded (apart from Harry's, obviously). Winning team was picked up by Mark Smith, Richard Maggs, Dave House and Eugenio Caruso with Winning Guest won by Alan Skinner. Nearest the Pin was won by yet another guest, Dave Cresser. Winning Team - Mark Smith, Richard Maggs, Dave House, Eugenio Caruso
Winning Guest - Alan Skinner
Nearest the Pin - Dave Cresser
Longest Drive was won by Alan Ruddy, but only just after a magnificent drive by Harry Cutts of at least 3 feet......our thanks go to his playing partner Sam Clarke for providing photographic evidence of Mr Toppy's finest efforts and special note must be made of Sams bravery in standing a) anywhere close and b) within 90 degrees of Harry's target line. In fact, you feel unsafe just looking at the photo. This so could have ended in tragedy and Sam's face on a Help for Heroes collection bucket so well done lad, top badgering. Harry's magnificent efforts out on the course were duly rewarded with Last Place aka The Turd for a measly 26 points, just reward for a man who's only been playing the game for the past 8 years and struggles to play anywhere near his 28 handicap. You'd have thought he'd have given up long ago....... Longest Drive - Alan Ruddy
Shortest Drive - Harry 'The Topper' Cutts FORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last Place aka The Turd - Harry 'The Topping Turd' Cutts
Third Place was won by Paul Ives with 41 points who made best use of the opportunity when his brother, Keith, wasn't there dragging him down with Second Place being won by Derek Slatford with a worthy 42 points. Overall Winner with 44 points was Past Captain Richard Maggs, making a welcome return to the winners rostrum. Well done to you all.
